Black don't crack

Today we had a patient come into the office. White guy looked to be in his mid 30s, until i looked at his birthdate and realized im actually older than him. Im just 26 and im only 18 days older than him, but the fact still remained. I showed his drivers licence picture to a few other employees and had them guess his age. The answers ranged from 28 to 37, the only thing i could think was he must have had a ruff life. But when you think about it, blacks normally do age better than any other race. My mom is 44 and people always think were brother and sister. This got me wondering why is it we as a race naturally look younger than we are so I googled "Black dont crack" and came across alot of articles on the subject. One in particular had this to say by a Dr. Madhavi Kandula, a Dermatologist She wrote:
"Yes, there is actually science to this. African-American skin is thicker and ages differently because of this. The most important thing is the melanin; most darker-skinned individuals age very differently as sun damage does not affect those of us with darker tones. The sun doesn’t damage skin as much and also because they have natural color to begin with, they don’t feel compelled to tan."
So, is that the reason? Darker skin means less sun damage and also less pressure from society to look "beautiful and tanned"? This also raises the question why is it common belief that darker skin color is more beautiful? Are whites trying to look more exotic seeing how they have no culture of their own? Just wondering...

Whites have a culture -- anglo culture is as vast and beautiful as any other culture and history. Its just that what was good now is bad. Pale skin used to be a sign of beauty because in the day it meant that you didnt have to work. You were rich...and could relax all day in your castle as the peasants went in on picking the wheat (peasants were later replaced by Negros, sadly.) Now to be pale and "white" it means that you are sick. You cant go outside and enjoy life. Its a sign of weakness, and fraility. So being more "TANNED" is supposedly meant to make you look more healthy. I dont believe that whites are "cultureless" as some people say. Though its true that all humanity came from Africans, but just the same...runes, mead, and horned hats from them coinside with our Kinte cloth and braids.

I dont believe whites tan to "look black" they just do it to look tan. Its a cultural belief that tan skin is beautiful and pale skin makes you look sickly. Just how in black society its culturally true that extra-black skin is less attractive cause it makes you look "burnt" or "crispy" cause we make the belief true -- they are just sticking to a truth that was predetermined just as anyone else is. Black people do set the lead in the fact that what we call our "culture" is often borrowed and followed by the masses. We are the only race of humans on the earth who were globally outcasted and demonized. For centuries we were the bad ones, though our world was always alluring and beautiful. People, especially whites, are finally feeling free enough to delve into our culture, which is so foreign from their own and they drink from it fully. I find this beautiful, as our own culture is changing to encorporate outside influence as well. I wish we would all merge. One fault, though, is when culture is borrowed without full understanding, or respect. Whites have an issue with this. Experiencing our culture on a superficial level, and then running back to their Abercrombie when they have had enough. Though we are at fault as well. We borrow without respect to other cultures. Its a cycle that repeats itself. Such as when R&B/rap borrows Middle Eastern instrumentation to lace lurid songs about graphic sex and pointless lust. If they had any knowledge of the culture, they would know that this is NOT done in the middle east. all songs are either about God, or very romantic and beautiful love. Not the "Magic stick" or a orgasm soaked "candy shop." Love your writing, Anthony!
